WhatsApp API number requirements

Your Business API number is different from the personal WhatsApp number collected at signup. Meta verifies the API number with OTP during Embedded Signup.

• Fresh number: must not already be registered on the WhatsApp mobile app.
• WhatsApp Business App: can stay on the app via Meta coexistence while Actionpackd sends API messages (Business App 2.24.4+).
• Migrate from another BSP: ask your current provider to release the number, keep the two-step verification PIN ready, then complete Embedded Signup. Expect brief downtime; templates may need re-sync. Platform plans are billed via Razorpay on the Billing page.
• The number must be able to receive OTP via SMS or voice call.
• Display name approval and API live status can take 5 minutes to 24 hours after submission.
